Translation & Editing

We like to share our policies and procedures up front. That way, we can build a trusting professional relationship with no surprises.

ENG 2 SPA offers American English to Mexican Spanish translation and editing services. We may provide Spanish to English translation upon request and availability. 

ENG 2 SPA charges by the number of words in the original document. All translation/editing orders are placed via email, after agreeing to the quote we provided, and payments are to be made the day the customer receives our invoice.

Our prices are based on whether the document is formal or informal. We define formal/informal in the following manner:

Informal writing:

• Any advertising content with casual language
• Any forms written with casual language that will not be used for educational, healthcare, immigration, or legal purposes 
• Any personal letter that will not be used for educational, healthcare, immigration, or legal purposes
• Any personal text that doesn’t require sophisticated terminology and that will not be used for educational, healthcare, immigration, or legal purposes
• Any signage with casual language that is not connected to a business/institution’s legal policies
• Any social media post with casual language

Formal writing: 

• Advertisement disclosures
• Any personal/business forms written with sophisticated terminology, or that require research in a given topic
• Any business/institution handbook
• Any personal/business press release
• Any website design content
• Any documents originally in Spanish that will be used for immigration purposes such as: birth and marriage certificates; documents from foreign educational institutions; employment letters and paystubs; guardianship letters; letters of support; property ownership documents; receipts in general; etc.
• Educational: brochures; forms; report cards and letters from foreign educational institutions written in Spanish; handbooks; letters; magazines; press releases; signage that describes the school/district’s policies or guidelines; social media posts with legal character; etc. 
• Healthcare: brochures; forms; letters; magazines; press releases; signage that describes the institution’s guidelines or policies; etc.
• Legal: forms; letters; magazines; press releases; signage that describes the legislative/judiciary institution’s policies/guidelines; any foreign documentation originally in Spanish to be used in court

It is the customer’s responsibility to provide a legible copy of the final draft of their content. Every draft provided to translate (whether it’s the final draft or not) will be charged separately. 

If more than one draft is provided, and the changes between drafts reflect an increase of word count by 50% or more from the previous one, the new draft will be charged at the full rate of the translation service price. However, if the changes between drafts reflect an increase of less than 50% from the word count from the previous translation, the new draft will be charged at the full rate of our editing/proofing service price.

ENG 2 SPA will not edit/proofread any raw translation from a machine translation such as Google Translate, Span¡shD!ct, etc. 

Also, if more than one draft is provided, and the changes between drafts reflect an increase of word count by 50% or more from the latest one, the new draft will be charged at the full rate. However, if the changes between drafts reflect an increase of 50% or less from the word count from the previous translation, the new draft will be charged at 50% of the current rate.
